Description of course
Students in this course will learn about and prepare materials for nationally-competitive opportunities that have deadlines early fall 2022. The course will include a historical survey and analysis of the awards and the respective funding agencies. Since many of the awards expect applicants to be future leaders in their fields, we will also learn about examples of leadership. Readings in the syllabus and class discussions will also address basic tenets of research and the importance of good writing and editing. Guests will include IU alumni who have applied for nationally-competitive awards and, possibly, IU faculty or staff who serve review and selection committees. By the end of the course, students will have completed an application for one of the opportunities they have identified.
This course will take place during the Fall 2022 intersession from August 2nd - 25th and meet virtually on Tuesday and Thursday (11:00am to 12:30pm). The course is HON X 298 and the class number is 35615 and it is open to all students.
