Title VIII - research, training and language education

The mission of the Title VIII Program is focused on research, training and language education on Eastern Europe and the Independent States of the Former Soviet Union -- administered by the State Department's Bureau of Intelligence and Research. Title VIII Fellowships are awarded on a competitive basis, with priority going to applicants who will further the Title VIII mission to develop and maintain high-quality research, training programs and language education critical to the national security of the United States.

Title VIII Fellowships provide tuition, fees, and room & board stipends for U.S. graduate students, area specialists, and scholars studying the languages and cultures of Eastern Europe and the countries of the former Soviet Union.
